Hi All.

Thanks for your patience.  We did research this a bit and we have found that iSkoot presumably does not work with Sprint as of yet.  We are working on figuring it out, but we apologize for any inconveniene so far.  We will let you know if we have an update!

This thread suggests that iSkoot is working with Sprint for Treo 700p devices.  http://www.iSkoot.com/forum/index.php?topic=95.0  This other thread suggests that iSkoot is partially working with Sprint for the Treo 650. http://www.iSkoot.com/forum/index.php?topic=215.0

So I'm wondering if the issue is with the RAZR v3m, and not necessarily Sprint.

I also cannot run the application on my Sprint Razr phone.  My phone software version is: 24.2_00.43.00R . I start the application.  Then it asks for my Skype Information.  I enter the information and choose ok.  Then I receive this error:

java.lang.Runt imeException: IOException reading reader invalid byte 10111
at etc.

I get the same error, except the first line is
java.lang.Runt imeException: IOException reading reader invalid first byte 11110000
at etc.

My phone is running at version 24.2_00.48.01P

Hi.

Is this Sprint and RAZR?  The combination unfortunately does not work with iSkoot.  Sad

Yep Sprint and RAZR.

Do you know, are the hurdles to making that combination work too difficult to surmount?  Or is it easy enough to make work, but there are higher priorities to deal with?  Knowing that would help to set our expectations.

Thanks!

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  Sad

I am not sure what the difficulty is exactly or how possible it is to surmount. For now, assume it does not work, but I would still periodically give it a try.

Fair enough.  Thanks for the followup.

I'm assuming the problem is with the JAVA implemetation on the phone.  I'm wondering if there might be a hack we as users can do to make things more compatible.  I'll go do some searching on the razr hack sites to see if there's anything promising there.

Well, I took a gander over at http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/razr-phones/ and http://hacktherazr.com/index.html both of which have threads on installing JAVA apps, but I didn't see anything there on compatibility issues.  I could have given up too quickly, but I'm getting too old for this  Tongue.  I'll let somebody else figure out whether iSkoot compatibility would benefit from any of that.

Does anyone know if there's an update on this issue?  I would love to get Skype on my Razr.

Has iSkoot been fixed/updated to work with the Sprint Razr V3m?  I've been trying to install it and on the download page the email and sms option do not work.  I then checked the forums and found this thread an am very upset as the Samsung M500 is a better phone and the only reason we have the Razr is because we thought iSkoot would work on it!

I'm beginning to become apathetic with your company.  I posted the error message that everyone receives on a sprint razr v3m.  The error message should point you in the right direction.  Which looks to me like a java implementation discrepancy with the sprint java vm.  Now, if you need any more information, I'm sure any of us would be glad to help.  But I have to tell you that Sprint in the US is not one of the smaller 1000 carriers in the world.  In fact, it's one of the largest.  And this network/phone (evdo) combination make iSkoot an extremely exciting application, except that none of us can use it.  Please explain to me how a huge market available to you does not seem to be worth the time of your company.

The Sprint fix that one of our users found to work with his Treo was the disabling of caller ID block on his phone. Perhaps this would work for the RAzr as well. Please let us know if it does!

I'm not familiar with such an option on the RAZR v3m.  If someone else is, I'd be happy to read about it.  But after reading the Treo portion of the forum.  They could always run the application.  We can't even really open it.  I would like response to the error message readout i posted, that everyone shares.

I want to post the Sprint V3m device developer page. http://developer.sprint.com/view_devices.do?device=77895
I noticed that not all features of the midp 2.0 j2me enviroment are available.  Can someone take a look at this and tell us if that is the problem.

Thanks for that link, Noahmehl. We've shared that link with the dev team (in case they didn't know about it already), and have asked them to look at this issue.

For the benefit of all RAZR owners on the Sprint network, again, please accept our apologies that we've been having these problems with your devices on Sprint. We don't know how long it will take to get more answers or an upgraded client that will fix this issue. We'll keep you posted and believe me, when we figure out what the problem is and how to fix it, we'll be VERY happy to share that with everyone!
